Is Christmas really this close?

I have been quilting now for about 17 years, mostly off than on. I am really trying to get time to work on my favorite hobby again. I've rearranged our schedule at home and Thursday night is cleaning the house night-no more cleaning all weekend long!! Yeah!!

I have finished my Christmas shopping-well almost, I have three things left to get. I'm mailing packages out this weekned. This next week, will be determining what recipes to make this year and card addressing. I hope to have our cards out the day after Thanksgiving as I need to let some people know of our address since we moved from Japan last year and I never sent out change of address cards, whoops!

So, I will be able to spend some time making some quilt projects for around the house. All of my quilts are utility quilts, and believe it or not, I don't have a single Christmas quilt or wallhanging. So, this year, I'm going to fix that. I'm working on a rag quilt for my mother this weekend and then onto Christmas items!! I'm so excited!!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Catching up ......

I seem to run at full speed all the time. Unfortunately, that means very little time sewing, but I'm hoping to fix that. Last week, I got to sew for a few hours on the weekend and I'm going to try to do that every week. I have several Christmas projects that I want to work on and I'm hoping to get them done and not feel rushed.

My kids keep me busy. Homeschooling three, with a toddler and infant is not easy. Its definitely challenging, but very rewarding. We just completed our first eight weeks and then took two off because my father came to visit. As a surprise, my brother flew in for a few days (it was dad's 60th birthday) so that was wonderful. I don't have any quilt photos to show you right now, but I do have these to show you:

This is one of the bald eagles that lives down the street from us.

Here's a photo of the baby taken a few weeks ago. She's changed so much already, I can't believe how time flies!

This is a photo from Deception Pass State Park, which we visited while Dad and Uncle Kevin were here.

Have a wonderful productive, quilting week!

She's here

Hello all!! Surgery went very well. Tylar Belle arrived without any problems weighing in at 7lbs and 8ozs. I opted to stay the extra day at the hospital to get some extra rest. I'm happy to be home however, enjoying food with a little flavor to it. (Exactly how do you make spaghetti sauce without any taste what so ever?)

I wanted to say thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. I'll post more in the next few days. I'm trying to squeeze in some quilting and hope to post some pictures soon!

Almost there!

I promise to post pictures soon!! I'm almost done cleaning and unpacking and getting settled. WHile the baby naps today, I intend to finish organizing my sewing space. I finally have a bookshelf cleared off for all of my quilting books and magazines. Uh oh, now hubby will see how many I really have. hehe

Take care everyone!! Enjoy your summer~

Hello everyone!!

I used to have a blog over at myquiltblog-but its been deleted twice and I just don't have the energy to redo it again.

We are a military family, just recently relocated from Japan to Washington State. We moved into our house last week and I'm currently being overrun by boxes. I was on the last ten or so-mostly crafts and stuff to organize and those darn movers showed up with all of our stuff that's been in storage for three years. Really, do we need it after three years? Probably not.

I've been quilting for about 18 years, on and off, mostly off. Not quite sure why I didn't quilt more before I had kids, but I didn't. Now, I just can't seem to find much time.

The good news is that our house affords me space to set up an area in our master bedroom to quilt and leave my machine out. In Japan, we had a very small house and I had to take it out and put it back after I used it so we could eat on the dining room table. This was also our schoolroom table. Needless to say, I didn't quilt much.

Since arriving in WA, I went on a wonderful quilt shop hop with a lady I met at the campground we were staying out. How fun, to find a quilter next door in a campground. I've been itching to get moving on my quilting but didn't have the machine (it was on its way from Japan) so I worked on hand quilting my son's quilt. I'm almost done with that but I'm having issues with the large belly. My due date is August 24th, but I will be having a scheduled csection the week before.

I have four children now. The oldest is our only son. He is almost eleven. The next three are 8,6, and 21 months. The newest addition is also a girl. Only five weeks left and no idea on a name yet. Any suggestions?

I've just tried to post some photos of quilts past done, but can't get onto photobucket. I'll try again later.

Until then, happy stitching!
