Sorry its been so long since my last post. This one will be really short because the kids are on lunch break. My mother came to visit for a week and we had a blast!! It was so much fun!! The kids and I really miss her!
We got our household goods and put 12,000 pounds into storage. The movers were fantastic and fit it all into a 10x30 foot storage space. I was amazed and excited! I now have my sewing machine again!! Yippee!
Terri Thayer came to talk at our guild. She told about her progress as a quilter and a writer. She was a ton of fun!
I got my first block of the month for my pumpkin quilt. I'll post pictures soon. My computer's been sluggish and I think I have too many pictures on here. I'm going to upload them to Kevin's external hard drive and also get a thumb drive. I need to start working on my digital scrapbook too!!
Take care and happy quilting!
I am a busy homeschooling mama of five kiddos. I love to quilt, but am always trying to find stitches of time to do so....

Sorry this is so short....
I hope to post more on Monday. The packers come that day and I'm busy trying to pack everything we need to live for the next six months into the camper. Ugh. I'm not doing too badly though. So far so good. The storage under the couch is good for all of my quilt and knitting projects. I was very glad about that. But it looks like I'll have to forgo the sewing machine. I don't think I'm going to have enough space!

been busy
I'm busy trying to get ready for the move and desperately trying to work on some projects before we live in the camper for a few months. Here's some of what I've been working on:
I made two of these for the little girls. Don't be too impressed cause I bought the fabric five years ago to make these for the big girls!
One of four blocks for a wallhanging for the living room. I have to take the pacific NW with me to the desert.
Bear wallhanging for the guest/kids bath. I have some awesome photos to add to that wall too.
Trying to finish learning how to knit TL's socks before we leave!
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

update and some progress
School is in full swing again for me. I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Four more classes after these two and I'm DONE!!
I did manage on my two weeks off to do alot of purging in the house. I got rid of 8 bags of clothes. We've been blessed with soooo many hand me downs, that I finally said enough is enough adn went through them and got rid of all we weren't using. I also decided to not save clothes between Bug-a-bug and Little Miss Trouble. Its four years. That's a lot of tubs of clothes. If I had a cellar or attic I might consider it, but its just too much.
I also managed to finish a quick quilt for TL for the camper. I'm working on quilting it now. I'm also working on several applique quilts and I've set up the embroidery quilt I want to work on. Realistically, I won't get much done until about August, but I can dream!! lol
I have some wonderful news. My friend, Nancy Murty, had a contest on her blog and gave away some of her new fabric that she designed from Andover. I will post photos is a day or so. I've got to find the camera.........

supposed to be studying....
I'm supposed to be studying for my midterms this week, but I'm busy reading quilt blogs and being all jealous at how much quilting everyone is getting done. Maybe I would too, if I quilted instead of reading blogs?
With the colder weather and darkness setting in early, I really just want to sit on the couch and hand quilt or applique, then I realized that the blocks for the sunbonnet sue are in the camper. I'll have to get hubby to get them out this weekend.
I really wanted to take some photos of the two quilts that I have from two different great-grandmothers made and post them for you. I'm too lazy to go and get the camera and get them taken for you. Sad isn't it? I need to get motivated! Maybe I will when I get the kiddos to sleep!!
Have a wonderful quilty day!
Blessings to all!

Redesigning
I'm supposed to be doing homework and cleaning right now, but I'm trying to redesign my web page. I haven't posted in while and I actually have several projects to report that I'm almost done with, one completed, and two more in the works! Yeah! I'll post pictures later tonight after I clean up a spot to take some photos!

Cutting up
I've been busy today cutting lots of fabric. I just realized that we're camping this weekend and I don't have a single quilt top done for the kids. I have one pieced but not quilted. I need to get moving. We're only doing half days of school this week as the neighbor kids have spring break. I hope to get at least two of the tops done. I also have three wallhangings that need to be quilted. I need to get moving on them I guess.
I started another college class and its not fun. The textbook is terrible. I'm actually thinking of chucking the book and doing research online-its really that bad!
Hopefully, I should have photos this week. I know, I know I keep saying that!

so....
I cannot believe that I have not posted on here since November? Time certainly does fly and keeps me busy!!
Christmas season is always busy of course. AFter Christmas, the hubby left for six weeks, and literally 30 minutes after he left, the stomach flu hit. That made its rounds, then we had a bit with a fever/sore throat bug and then the fifth disease hit. That was the worst, and I'm still suffering the joint pain associated with it.
I also started an online college class in Jan. I really want to finish my bachelors. I was hoping to keep taking classes, but the funding I was using for military spouses has since been stopped. I have to see if I can qualify for more financial aid starting for the August term. I signed up late for this year and do not get close to enough to pay for the classes.
Which is fine. I still have some cleaning/sorting to do. I have lots of quilt projects to work on, genealogy to work on, and I started knitting. I want to learn to make some socks for Christmas presents.
So, since I have nothing quilty to share, here's some photos:
The baby is now six months old and sitting up by herself. We are calling her the chunky monkey. I do not remember the others having such thick thighs or rolls, although I'm sure they did!

Hallie celebrated her ninth birthday this past week. I can't believe that she is nine already. She's growing up so quickly. Pray for her this week, she gets her tonsils out on Monday!

This picture and the next two I took from standing in the same spot. This little beach is about 1/4 mile from our house. Notice the driftwood on the beach. All the beaches on the island have driftwood that large on them.

This is west of the island-the Olympic Mountain range.

And this is east-the Cascade Mountain range. Its absolutely beautiful right now, with the snow on them and as I stated, I can see them all from the same spot.

We've been blessed with some really nice weather and the kids are enjoying being outside. I have a paper to write and a final to study for. I need to get working on that, instead of sitting on the computer reading quilt blogs!! Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to working on stuff soon and be able to post some photos!

Is Christmas really this close?
I have been quilting now for about 17 years, mostly off than on. I am really trying to get time to work on my favorite hobby again. I've rearranged our schedule at home and Thursday night is cleaning the house night-no more cleaning all weekend long!! Yeah!!
I have finished my Christmas shopping-well almost, I have three things left to get. I'm mailing packages out this weekned. This next week, will be determining what recipes to make this year and card addressing. I hope to have our cards out the day after Thanksgiving as I need to let some people know of our address since we moved from Japan last year and I never sent out change of address cards, whoops!
So, I will be able to spend some time making some quilt projects for around the house. All of my quilts are utility quilts, and believe it or not, I don't have a single Christmas quilt or wallhanging. So, this year, I'm going to fix that. I'm working on a rag quilt for my mother this weekend and then onto Christmas items!! I'm so excited!!!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Catching up ......
I seem to run at full speed all the time. Unfortunately, that means very little time sewing, but I'm hoping to fix that. Last week, I got to sew for a few hours on the weekend and I'm going to try to do that every week. I have several Christmas projects that I want to work on and I'm hoping to get them done and not feel rushed.
My kids keep me busy. Homeschooling three, with a toddler and infant is not easy. Its definitely challenging, but very rewarding. We just completed our first eight weeks and then took two off because my father came to visit. As a surprise, my brother flew in for a few days (it was dad's 60th birthday) so that was wonderful. I don't have any quilt photos to show you right now, but I do have these to show you:

This is one of the bald eagles that lives down the street from us.

Here's a photo of the baby taken a few weeks ago. She's changed so much already, I can't believe how time flies!

This is a photo from Deception Pass State Park, which we visited while Dad and Uncle Kevin were here.
Have a wonderful productive, quilting week!
